# Custom domain

:::note[Coming soon, and dependent on your plan]
Custom domains aren't available yet. When they are, your plan will set whether you can use them and how many you can connect. This page describes how they'll work. Until then, your pages work on `showtell.live`.
:::

A custom domain puts your public pages on your own address, so people register and watch at `live.yourbrand.com` rather than `showtell.live`. Your links, emails and calendar invites all use it once it's live.

You need a domain you own, and access to its DNS settings. These usually live wherever you bought the domain, or with your website host.

## Connect a domain

1. **Enter a subdomain**

   Open **Workspace → Custom domain**, enter the address you want under **Subdomain**, such as `live.yourbrand.com`, and choose **Add domain**. It must be a subdomain, because a root domain such as `yourbrand.com` can't use the kind of record this needs. The page shows how many your plan allows, and how many you've used.
2. **Add the CNAME record**

   FullHouse shows the record to add, with copy buttons for its **Name** and **Target**. Add it at your DNS provider. If your DNS is with Cloudflare, set the record to **DNS only**, not proxied.
3. **Choose Check now**

   DNS changes usually show up within a few minutes, but can take a few hours. FullHouse also keeps checking in the background, so you can come back later.
4. **Wait for the certificate**

   Once the record is found, FullHouse sets up the secure certificate. This usually takes a few minutes, and your links keep using `showtell.live` until it's ready.
5. **Test it**

   When the status says **Active**, open your registration link and register with your own address. Check that the confirmation email's links use your domain.

## What each status means

| Status | What's happening | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Waiting for DNS** | FullHouse hasn't found your CNAME record yet. | Add the record, then choose **Check now**. |
| **Issuing certificate** | The record is in place, and the secure certificate is being set up. | Wait a few minutes. |
| **Active** | Your pages and links use your domain. | Keep the CNAME record in place. |
| **Needs attention** | The record has gone, the certificate couldn't be issued, or the domain was refused. | Follow the message on the page, then choose **Check now**. |

If a certificate can't be issued, check that the CNAME is in place and that no CAA record on your domain blocks certificates.

A domain that never goes live is dropped after 30 days, and the page returns to the add form, so nobody can hold on to an address they don't control.

## What changes once it's active

- **New links use your domain:** registration, join, replay, thank-you, reschedule, calendar and unsubscribe links, and challenge hubs.
- **So does everything that shows a link:** emails, including those already queued, because links are worked out when an email is sent. Also calendar files, webhooks, connected AI tools, Pinball, embed snippets and the **Copy registration link** buttons.
- **Old links keep working:** anything already sent on `showtell.live` still works, and isn't redirected.
- **Only your events appear on your domain:** another workspace's pages can't be opened there. The bare address, such as `live.yourbrand.com` with nothing after it, shows a not-found page in your colours.

Everything else about the pages is unchanged. Sign-in stays at `app.meetfullhouse.com`, and you don't need to republish anything.

If your video is hosted elsewhere rather than uploaded, check that your video host allows your new domain, or playback may fail. See [Video](/webinars/video).

## Use more than one domain

If your plan allows more than one, every Active domain opens your pages, but your new links use only one of them. It's marked **Used for links**. To change it, choose **Use for links** on another Active domain. Until you choose, your links use the one that's been live longest.

There's no way yet to give one webinar its own domain. Each webinar and challenge opens on all of your Active domains.

## Change or remove a domain

To use a different address, add the new one if your plan has room, or remove one first.

Choose **Remove**, then **Remove domain**. If your links were using that domain, they move straight away to your next Active domain, or to `showtell.live` if you don't have one.

If the domain was live, links people already have on it keep working for 30 days, taking them to your current address, as long as the CNAME record stays in place. After that, they stop working. The page lists these under **Earlier addresses**.

:::caution
Update any [embed snippets](/connect/embed-widget) on your website before you remove a domain, because they stop working once the old address does. Once the 30 days are over, delete the CNAME record at your DNS provider too, so the address no longer points anywhere.
:::

## If your plan changes

Moving to a smaller plan doesn't delete your domains. If you have more than your plan covers, those over the limit are marked **Not on your plan**, and their pages take people to your current address. The domain chosen for links stays covered first, then those live longest. Choose **Use for links** on another Active domain to keep that one instead.

If your new plan doesn't include custom domains at all, your links go back to `showtell.live`, and your old links take people there. Your domains stay listed so that you can remove them, and they come back if you move to a plan that covers them.

## Messages you may see

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| `That domain is already connected to another FullHouse workspace. If it's yours, remove it there first.` | Remove it from the other workspace, or choose another address. |
| `That address belongs to FullHouse. Enter a domain you own.` | `showtell.live` and `meetfullhouse.com` addresses can't be used. |
| `Your plan includes 1 custom domain. Remove one to add another.` | Remove a domain, or get in touch to move to a bigger plan. |
| `Custom domains aren't included in your plan. Get in touch to move to a plan with them.` | Get in touch to move to a plan that includes them. |
| `You've already added that domain.` | It's already in your list. Nothing has changed. |
| `That doesn't look like a domain name. Enter something like live.example.com, with no https:// or page address.` | Enter only the address. |
| `We couldn't check your domain just now. Please try again in a few minutes.` | Try again later. Nothing has changed. |

## Who can manage it

The owner and team members can both add, check and remove domains, and choose which one links use. See [Team](/workspace/team). Deleting your account removes your domain too.
