# The replay

A replay is the same room without the clock: the attendee watches on their own schedule, with your offers, polls, handouts and scheduled chat appearing as the video reaches them. This page shows the attendee's side. To set it up, see [Replay](/webinars/replay) in the webinar setup.

## How people get there

- **Their replay link**, in the [replay email](/attendees/emails-unsubscribe). Like the join link, it's personal.
- **Their join link**, after the session. It shows the end-of-session page, with a **Watch the replay** button.

Before anything plays, the replay link shows a simple page with a **Replay** label, the webinar title, the presenter and a **Watch the replay** button. Pressing it starts the video.

## What's different from the live room

| | Live room | Replay |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Badge at the top | **LIVE**, with the viewer count | **Replay**, no count |
| Video controls | Mute, captions and fullscreen only | The browser's normal video controls, or locked controls if you've [locked the player](/webinars/replay#lock-the-player) |
| Pausing and skipping | No | Yes, or pausing only if the player is locked |
| Where timed items follow | The session clock | The viewer's position in the video |
| Scheduled chat | Yes | Yes, if **Include scheduled chat** and **Show chat on replay** are both on |
| Shared live chat | Yes, if on | No |
| Message box in the chat tab | Yes | No |
| Q&A tab | Yes, if on | Yes, if on |
| Offers, polls, handouts | Yes | Yes |
| Feedback form | At the end | Under the video, from 30 seconds in |
| Automatic redirect at the end | Yes, if set | No |

The layout is the same as the [live room](/attendees/live-room#the-layout), on computers and phones.

## Watching

The video uses the browser's own controls, so viewers can play, pause and move along the bar. Captions appear in those controls if you've [added them](/webinars/video#add-captions). Download, speed, casting and picture-in-picture are hidden where the browser allows it.

With **Lock player controls** on, viewers get play and pause, mute, captions, fullscreen and a progress bar they can't drag, so they can't skip forward or back. A large play button shows over the video whenever it's paused, and they can watch again from the start once it ends.

With no chat, because **Show chat on replay** or **Include scheduled chat** is off, the chat tab isn't there. Polls stay visible above whichever tab is open. If there are no tabs and no poll, the video takes the full width until an offer appears.

Everything else follows the video's position:

- **Offers** appear and disappear as the viewer reaches their times. Skipping past the start of an offer shows it straight away. Skipping back before it hides it again. The timer starts when the viewer first sees the offer and restarts if they reload.
- **Polls** open at their times. Replay answers count towards the same poll. If they answered live, they see their earlier answer.
- **Handouts** unlock when reached, and lock again if the viewer skips back before them.
- **Scheduled chat** plays against the video. Skipping forward fills in what they skipped.

Clicks in a replay are counted too, and your [overview report](/run/overview-report) shows them separately from live clicks.

## Questions in a replay

The Q&A tab works the same as in the [live room](/attendees/live-room#asking-a-question): questions reach your [Questions](/run/questions) inbox, showing the point in the video they were asked. The [AI assistant](/webinars/ai-answers) answers if it's on, and it unlocks your offer context based on where the viewer is in the video. Your replies appear in the tab within about 20 seconds. Replies from earlier visits, including to questions asked live, show there too.

## Feedback

Once the viewer is 30 seconds into the video, a **How was it?** form appears under the video on a computer and above the tabs on a phone. It takes 1 to 5 stars and an optional comment of up to 2,000 characters, and the results go to your [overview report](/run/overview-report). Each person can rate once, across live and replay. Anyone who has already rated sees "Thanks for the feedback" instead.

## Before the replay opens

Your [Replay](/webinars/replay) settings decide when it opens. What someone sees depends on when they use the link:

| When | What they see |
| --- | --- |
| Before the session starts | The [waiting room](/attendees/waiting-room). |
| During the session | The **Replay** page with a **Watch the replay** button. If they press it, the video plays from the start with normal controls, even though the session is still running. |
| During the session, past the late-join window | "This session already started", with upcoming times. On a challenge day, "The live session has passed". |
| After the session, during a replay delay | The end-of-session page: "The replay is on its way", "It opens at 4:45 PM. Come back to this page then." |
| Replays turned off | The end-of-session page, with no replay section. |
| Session canceled | "This session was canceled", with **See upcoming times**. |

## After the replay closes

When the replay expires, both the join link and the replay link show "The replay has closed" and "Registration is still open for upcoming sessions.", with a **See upcoming times** button that goes to your registration page. In a challenge, the button goes back to their hub. Anyone who watched and hasn't rated also sees the feedback form.

The end-of-session page tells them when it closes: "The replay stays open until *(date and time)*." With no expiry, it says "The replay is ready whenever you are."

## If something goes wrong

| What they see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| The video could not load. Check your connection and reload the page. | Choose **Reload video**. They start again from the beginning. |
| This browser cannot play this video format. Please use a current browser. | Update their browser, or use another one. |
| An invalid link page | Open it again from the email. |

A replay doesn't remember where someone stopped. Coming back starts at the beginning, with the **Watch the replay** button.
